I'm gunna be in port sulphur for a few weeks in Febuary and March (about a half hour north of town), I am trying to scout out some fishing before I get there. I haven't been able to do any fishing when I've been in LA so suppose I need to ask everything. I hope to get in a half hour or so before or after work so guide services and pay to fish spots won't be viable.

First of all are any fish going to be near banks that time of year? if so what kinds? I know else where in the gulf bank fishing can be rough in Feb. I just want to do some fishing I don't care what species fresh or salt.

I've looked at some maps and don't see a lot listed as public close by, is there any bank fishing to be done from easily accessible spots in the area, can you access water from bridges and such? I will be walking distance from the levee can you fish the river from the levee and is it worth your time?

I see there is a fishing pier in port sulphur, I didn't see anything about it being paid access. Do you have to pay to fish there?

Thanks for any help.

I have seen references to party boats operating south of there but can't find any websites. Are there any large boats in the area that run day trips for under a 100$?
