I came across this a while back and it is actually a promotion for the Hydrowave but it digs into something far more important in my opinion, noise and how it may effect fish........

Very nice video! Thanks for posting! The trolling motor sure is LOUD... and I had heard about that prop nut thing but it sure did quiet it up. And to think that normal human conversation was picked up that easily- guess I won't be playing tunes anymore!

Bassmanrudy, I think this video also makes the case for powerpoles/talons as well..........

Excellent video, very informative. Always new about how fast and far noise travels underwater but didn't realize how much the above water conversation sounds were transmitted under the surface. I think I'll share this video with the wife and see if she can understand why I don't talk to her in the boat.

Doc my dad was a real stickler about noise in the boat when I was a kid and now I understand why. I've tried playing a radio before as well and noticed the fish seemed to shut down when I turned it on........

Sounds like if you want the radio you should use ear buds. I've got to where all I listen to is "talk radio" and audio books. Prefer them over a speaker but go to ear buds when there is wind. Guess the smart thing would be to eliminate the speaker totally

Fish are not distracted from noise in the boats.
You can play radio, Talk all you want, even bump into stumps with your trolling motors, those bass pods will stay there and not flee. Now this is different during spawn.
What I have seen when fishing East Texas lake with gin clear water is the bass run in pods. Pods are like same size bass in groups of 3 up to a dozen.
What will freak them out is when you cast at them and they can see you

I also can't help but wondering if the larger mature LMB's; especially the ones that have been caught a few times, would relate noise to danger and either flee or just not bite. I would think that the less you let a fish know of your presence the better off you would be...........
