Fished my local club(Hawg Herders) 2-day Championship out of Darbonne. Lake was about .5' high and water clarity was clear main lake and stained in the State Park creek arm. Temps ranged from low to mid 60*s being slightly warmer above the Hwy 2 bridge(though I didn't fish below the Hwy 33 bridge so can't say). Was an interesting tourney and we had a lot of fish caught but nothing very big. 4.46 and one other 4lber weighed along with some 3lbers but otherwise 1.5lbers seemed to dominate. 12 fish total over 3 segments w/ the Winner having 20.36; 2nd- 19-29; 3rd 19-28; 4th 15.66(me w/8 fish...); 5th- 14.18. I caught my fish using a crank and wacky worm around docks and a couple on a spinnerbait over the flooded grass. Most of the other anglers had success using spinnerbaits along with cranks and some flipping docks. I'm beginning to like this lake and it def has numerous ways to fish it- shallow or deep. Saw eagles, beaver, nutria rats, hawks, and deer so the wildlife is quite plentiful as well!

I've been looking for fishing buddies in the NELA region. Don't have a boat up here unfortunately. If you are ever looking for someone to go with you please let me know and we can exchange information.

That lake always had my number after they did the draw downs. I was a tough bite back then. Sounds like it has improved a lot since the late 80's........

Hey. Yeah I don't get over that way much but if I do I will let you know. We might be fishing the Ouachita river for a club tourney next year and that's in your area. Also that lake over near Monroe where the 14lber was caught earlier this year sounds like a place to try during the spawn!

Bassmanrudy if you are talking about Caney for the 14 pounder. Yep she's going to get hot again for the big ones especially around spawn. the sterile grass carp they (the state) stocked in this lake that basically destroyed it have just about hit the end of their life expectancy and are dying off allowing the vegetation to rebound......If you look at Louisiana state LMB records this lake probably holds the top spot and a good chunk of the top 10. I know while I was living there 4 state records were broken on that lake............
