Why do we subsidize insurance companies the have coverage in hurricane zones? If you build there why should we cover the storm damages to your home? ...Another stupid government policy for the rich... soapbox

I checked into buying a vacation home on the Florida coast that I could use a couple of weeks out of the year and time share the rest. As we started gathering details I asked about how these were insured. The realtor told me that the state of Florida insures all of these vacation properties because they are so dependent on tourism and private insurance companies won't touch them.......I don't know how far inland that goes though.......
