Armadilla, apparently it fishes a lot better than it did when I left Louisiana in 1991. The Corps ran it through one of those flood control draw downs a few years before I left pulling it all the way down to the channel for several months and then the state allowed folks to haul fish out of it by the ice chest full; of course enforcing limits, but after it refilled from that draw down it was like it had been completely emptied of bass. By far the toughest lake I ever fished. Guys were still catching good heavy stringers in the tournaments I fished on it but they were fishing hidden brush piles. Since I didn't put out the effort to make my own brush piles I usually came up empty on tournament day. These days I don't think you can keep a secret brush pile "SECRET" anymore because of the fish finder technology advancements so I wonder if anyone is building brush piles on Da'bone anymore.....

Is that "lakeway drive" in the Lake Shore area of Monroe?
My favorite lake was Black Bayou.. second was Horseshoe... then Pace's. Never really liked D'Arbonne... Have a brother in law who lives up there now... he has a boat and all, but never hear him mention the fishing.

I wish it was but instead the Lakeway Drive I live on is located about 75 miles northeast of Dallas in east Texas almost on the Cooper Lake WMA. I live about a 1/4 mile from a lake that is roughly about 15000 acres with duck hunting and fishing (not a bass lake) with about 17000 acres to deer and hog hunt archery only for the deer. I also don't live but about a 30 minute drive from Fork but I'd trade that in a heart beat for any place in northeast Louisiana. I plan to buy some waterfront property on Caney, Claiborne, or possibly D'arbonne but I'd have to spend some time fishing Da'bone and see some success before I'd make that commitment......We've even talked about buying a house boat and living on the Ouachita too ..... Black Bayou Lake north of Monroe is one of my favorite places to fish as well........
