Ever been curious what this run would be like. I made bits and pieces of the is run in the 80's and 90's but never the whole thing mainly because I didn't have GPS back then and getting out of the channel and tearing up something was just to easy as well as getting lost. This place is like a giant corn maze. Here it is a 1 hour and 20 minute run condensed down to a little over 18 minutes. Even with GPS this is still an insane run. I think when I get back I'm going to have to try it.....enjoy!

I rode with someone trying to make that run (from Moon Lake to the spillway) in the late 70s .... in a cigar boat with no gps. Probably too many Miller Ponies... we ended up "stumped" and lost the lower unit. Had to drift back down D'arbonne Creek to a restaurant on the creek, call the wives and get them to bring our pickup and boat trailer so we could get out and back home. As I recall, we were great entertainment for the folks in the restaurant while we were waiting to be picked up.

Armadilla I think the lay downs, the bean field, and boggy branch area is what makes this so dangerous, anything below the "S" turns. Another thing that I worried about was the Alligator Gar. If you fish it enough; or so it was back in the old days, you'd look down in the water beside the boat and see one as big as they get every once in a while. If you hit one of those it would be just as devastating as hitting a stump.......In some of those narrows on the upper end I could see where that could be possible......but more than likely they will get out of the way.........I too took the Ponies and or the Clydesdales with me fishing and they helped me do some pretty crazy stuff as well. I don't do that anymore....... Ponies helped me surf my rig one day from the 90 degree turn in the boat lane channel marker south of the Bernice Farmerville highway (D'arbonne Lake) nearly to the HWY 33 bridge. I had the steering and the throttle set where they would stay where ever I left them. I got on the back deck and could lean the boat one way or the other to turn it just like a giant surf board......This after working nights and coming straight to the lake and stopping to get a 12 pack of ponies. I had drank most of them at point, Ahhh the things you will do when in your early 20 somethings..............
