I saw this on the TFF bass fishing section this morning. I'd never really put a number to it but after I thought about it a while it really shocked me what the rough numbers totaled up to especially since I have been out of the sport since 2000. I roughly figured for the boats, tow vehicles, gas, food, tackle, lodging, etc., and it didn't take me long to run the price tag up between $100k to $150k. I figured if I was still in the sport and spending what I spent at my peak I would have easily surpassed the $500k mark...........

I don't really keep track since about all of my fishing is done here on Lake Fork and I am only about 1/2 mile from a boat ramp so travel don't really enter into it but I will say far as tackle and things like that it is more than my wife knows about.

IT really doesn't take long for the numbers to climb, esp with truck and boat prices. Then you cant have a nice boat and truck, its got to have graphs, poles etc...etc....etc...

That's for sure. I had the best of the best back in the day. My rods and reels were $90 to $150 dollars each back in the 80's and early 90's. If you figured for inflation and bought the same level of gear I bought back then, these days. I figure I would have $500 to $1000 each in each combo. That is just sick......I figure if I replace or add on anything once I get started back, I won't be spending more that $150 for either a rod or reel this time around...........

More than I can add up that's for sure! Over 40 years fishing probably 150k to 200, it adds up fast in today's world!
Fishermen are born honest, but they get over it!
