Hallo all.
My name is Willem and I'm a HUGE Carp angler. I'll keep an eye on this section for some LA Carp fishing.
I travel in LA for work and want to fish more of the lakes out there. Good to see LA got their LFF !!!
Anybody interested to know more about Trophy Carp Fishing, feel free to ask, I'll be more than happy to answer questions.

The water quality here keeps the fish from groing into monsters. There are no gin clear deep cool lakes or rivers. Largest common I've had is about 20 nowhere near a pb so I don't remember the actual number. The other thing is a lot of the water is very salty. I would venture to say the average mature common in south Louisiana is around 10-12 pounds. I'm sure the watershed up by Arkansas will hold much bigger healthier fish
PB's Common - 36.4lb Grasser - 47lb Smbuff - 49.8lb Longear- .15lb

P.S. Let's not turn this into a pissing contest like the carp forum had become in Texas. Be nice. Be repectful. Don't ever assume you know everything and nobody could possibly teach you a thing or two. Most of all have fun and pass the sport down to new people.

Cypress Lake spillway in Bossier is a Carp anglers dream!! Fished it for many years when I was younger, not for Carp but for White Perch..but I saw many a man snag them out of there at this time of year. Of course your gonna need a little water running over it to pull them up. With this drought I really doubt that it has any water running.

Thanks guys. LOL Dorcheat, No worries man. I don't pray to carp, I just fish for them . I'm Ex-South African so carping to me is like bass to the US. That's what I grew up with. I love catching the big ones but enjoy catching any size. A fish is a fish is a fish, and all that is better than nothing I'm sure that will be great for a fly Rod!!! Grim, Not sure where the PS: came from, I've been nice, respectful and never claimed that I know everything. I did however offer to answer questions to the best of my ability. I don't make assumptions and after 30 years of carp fishing still have a lot to learn, I think I've only seen the tip of the iceberg!!! don't think I'll ever be able to say I know it all, nor make that claim. I love to share ideas and to take new people fishing. If I ever come across "all knowing", please feel free to let me know since I'll never do that intentionally. Tight Lines Willem

Not implying anyone here would assume they "know everything". It was more a cautionary word of advice. I'm originally from Nola but transplanted to texas eons ago. There are so many carpers there that the forum had gotten down right nasty in the past. I bailed off that site after trying to be helpful to some one by giving them the dam release schedule of my back yard water, which just happens to be the famed town lake Austin. It was summer so when the sam opened the water went through there at 10,000cfs. I was point blankly told "I've been fishing longer than you and you don't know $&'@!. It was my last straw. I have other friends that stopped posting pictures because people would actively stalk us and fish any spot that we had been baiting. People were suspended. Posts were deleted. It got messy. That's why I said what I said. Sorry to rant.

I lady at a gas station asked me: "WoW, you've got a weird accent!! Are you from TEXAS?" After some chit chat with the girl I learned she never left her county in her life of 26 yeras. So I guees it that case it was a valid question

Any word on the jumping carp making it out into lake p? Maybe dome escaping into false river area? If they get ahold of some new water it could cripple the commercial fishing. I guess we just beg the gubbmint to do dome electro fishing after all the water goes down a bit. Yikes!!!! Fingers crossed mates

Hi guys, another CAG member here, living near New Orleans. I do quite a bit of Red and Speck fishing, but Carping is my first passion. Kind of normal when you grow up across the big pond, namely London. I noticed the comment about Bayou St. John, but I blanked my only session there. I did see a pic of a goodsizedCommon from there on a yak site, so they are in there. Anyone know if City Park Lagoons hold Carp? Never foundany evidence myself, but dont see why they wouldnt be in there.

Anyone seen or heard of Carp or Buffs from Valentine Lake, near Alexandria, LA ? Going camping there soon and hoping there are some in there as my idea of heaven is sitting behind my carp rods while Wifey does her thing piddling about in her yak after Perch, Bass etc. I can't find any refernce to either species in there, but hoping someone may have some info, it would be nice to know before I go !
