Our 2018 season begins with our OPEN event on Martin Creek Lake, on Jan. 27th. We will not be collecting membership fees for this one, but it will require that you have a Texas license. Please be sure that your boat and trailer are Salvinia FREE, as they will be there checking...and I believe the fines were around $300, if your boat/trailer have ANY on it. This event will also require and extra $1/boat for a "special event" fee that TX State Parks charges for all tournaments. For anyone new to LA Poormans Trail, please be sure that you have both team members Drivers and Fishing licenses at registration...I will be check ALL. For more details, check (like/follow us) on our Facebook page...as this is where the most recent updates will be listed.
Here's your chance to check out Poormans without paying a membership fee for this one, entry fee is $60/boat and 100% of that money will be paid out. Don't forget to bring your drivers and fishing licenses (both you and your partner) to registration, without them you will not be able to fish...confirmation on fishing licenses on your phone is OK. Hope to have a good turnout for this one, as Texas Poormans will be joining us. Registration will begin at 5:00am, see everyone there!
I've had several texts and emails asking if this OPEN tournament counts toward Classic qualification...it does, I will keep a record of it and when you fish your first regular event I will add it to your total. I've also been asked if you may enter and pay your membership fees at the OPEN...you cannot, I will not be collecting any membership fees from anyone at this event. There also will not be any of the optional side pots, they will begin at our first regular event at BB Hosston in February. Each team will pay the $60 entry fee and hopefully they will have staff there to collect your park and special event fees (I believe it's $3 person for park entry and $1/boat for their SE fee). The $60 entry includes Big Bass, and 100% of the entry money will be paid out. Our OPEN is a way to let people check out our trail, without committing to paying the $30/person membership fee, to see how you like it. Hopefully we'll have a good turnout and be able to have some good payouts for this event.
