How safe would a 22' 10" pontoon be to fish the jetties and some back waters at Venice La. ?
Can anchoring up in some areas be productive for reds and trout ?
Never been there, I don't have a CC boat, I have a 20' foot bass boat, and the toon. Expecting to carry up to 6-people, 15 gal bait tank and supplies. Would we need heavy equipment or average striper type setup's for the bull reds?
Thanks in advance up

I would think the marsh would be Ok. Watch the depth!! Wind and tide will be a factor. Striper gear can handle bull reds. Sounds like a blast to me! Have fun and post us a report. welcome

Just be aware of the weather conditions I've seen a pontoon rig in 4 to 6 foot waves and I seriously thought it was going to get flipped. I was out there where the toon was in my bass rig but made it to shore before it got real bad those guys decided to stay out. The bow of the pontoon looked like it was getting 10 feet of air at times.........

Not going to take any chances, we'll keep an eye on the weather before we go out period...... Were you at the rigs or at the jetties when all that went down..????
Mainly we want to catch reds/trout.

Red I was actually on an inland lake in really high wind. We went out on slick water and a really violent storm blew up over us..........being around jetties if it go rough might be a good thing to get away from the waves.
