I live in New Orleans and want to take my son bank fishing, but I am not entirely sure where to go.

Ideally I would be interested in places with potential for reds/trout, but also acceptable would be place(s) more suitable for bass type fishing.

I did google around a bit, but most of the guides I saw were from 2009 or before, so I was hoping for a more updated list.

I think my limit would be a 1 hour drive from the city, but if a place is really nice then I could go further.

Thanks for any help!

I suggest driving to shell beach. Buy your bait at campos marina (just before the end of the road). Turn around and drive to hopedale. There are numerous places to fish after you get out of the private property - past the guardrail hole (fewer snags past guardrail). Look for trails going to the water. Good for specs and reds this time of year. See ya out there
